As the best wide receiver available, Tee Higgins' free agency should be fascinating to watch this season. No one says he's one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. But Higgins has been overshadowed by Ja'Marr Chase over the past few seasons. As a free agent, he will finally have the opportunity to be the team's top target.
Tee Higgins Top Free Agent Destinations
Before making a prediction for Tee Higgins' free agency, it's important to take a look at some of his potential destinations. Considering what his value would be on the open market, not every team will be able to afford him.
Also, not every team will offer him the opportunity to be a true reject. 1 receiver. With that in mind, let's dive into Tee Higgins' free agency, including which teams have the best chance to sign him and what his contract is worth.
Bengals
There is a good chance Higgins will remain in Cincinnati in 2024. The Bengals have the option of using the franchise tag on him to keep him for another season.
They also have enough space to make a competitive offer for him. The question is whether the Bengals will pay Higgins a no-no. The No. 1 receiver knows Chase is still his top target and will need to re-sign soon as well.
Panthers
Carolina certainly knows that the best thing for Bryce Young is having a proven receiver like Higgins at its disposal. Of course, since new coach Dave Canales spent last season with the Buccaneers, the Panthers may target Mike Evans over Higgins.
But that doesn't mean Carolina won't try to be the highest bidder for Higgins.
Heads
Despite winning two consecutive Super Bowls, the Chiefs need No. 1 receiver. Higgins is clearly a different type of receiver than Tyreek Hill, who Kansas City has struggled to replace over the past two seasons.
But Higgins will still give Patrick Mahomes a reliable target on the outside to pair with Rashie Rice. Kansas City also has the cap space to afford Higgins if the team decides that wide receiver should be a priority.
Titans
Much like the Panthers, the Giants have a young quarterback and need to no. 1 reception for his help. At this point, DeAndre Hopkins is more of a complementary receiver, though he would certainly be a good tandem with Higgins.
It's also worth noting that Higgins is from Tennessee and grew up just a few hours away from Nashville. If the Giants pursue him, Higgins will have the opportunity to play closer to home, which could influence his decision.
Jaguar
Jacksonville also offers an obvious fit for Higgins. The Jaguars have a strong roster but still need to no. 1 wide receiver. Going to Jacksonville will also give Higgins the opportunity to play with his former college teammate Trevor Lawrence.
Higgins witnessed firsthand the chemistry between Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase after the two played in college. He may be intrigued by the possibility of creating a similar situation with Lawrence in Jacksonville, which would make the Jaguars a perfect fit to sign Higgins this offseason.
Drop the contract
Higgins is certainly ready for a big payday no matter where he ends up. He would be worth nearly $25 million per season, especially if he has multiple suitors who would raise his price.
At 25 years old, Higgins deserves a long-term deal, although he may not want to limit himself for too long, giving himself another chance to hit the open market before he's out of his prime. With that in mind, Higgins will likely receive a four-year deal closer to $100 million.
