SHARP COLD: Cooler air is moving into Alabama today with brisk north winds. Some light rain continues early this morning across parts of central and southern Alabama; By the afternoon, rain will be limited to areas near the Gulf Coast as cool, dry air takes over.
Temperatures will remain in the low to mid 40s in the northern half of the state…some Tennessee Valley communities may not get out of the 30s. Skies will slowly become partly to mostly sunny over northern Alabama this afternoon.

Tomorrow will be a sunny day with a cool morning. Most places will start the day in the 24-34 degree range…highs will be in the 50s.
Next week: Temperatures will rise, with highs approaching 70 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. The next chance for measurable rain will come late Thursday, Thursday night and Friday morning as a cold front sweeps through the Deep South. Rainfall amounts should be light, mostly less than 1/4 inch. Friday will be cooler with high temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
There is still no sign of any severe impact weather event in Alabama for the rest of February…no extreme hail, snow, ice, flooding, severe storms or tornadoes.

Central Alabama is experiencing a marked calm period today with brisk winds and mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will range from the low 40s to mid 50s, but wind gusts up to 25 mph will make it much colder, with wind chills likely 6-8 degrees below the actual temperature. While some light rain may persist in southern parts of the region, it is expected to dissipate by midday.
Looking ahead to Sunday, there is a big improvement on the horizon. Expect plenty of sunshine and diminishing winds, creating a more enjoyable outdoor experience. Afternoon temperatures will range from the lower to mid 50s across the region, with some areas farther south possibly reaching the upper 50s.
As we move into the new week, a period of dry weather awaits us. Monday will bring plenty of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Tuesday will see a continuation of the warming trend, with highs climbing into the upper 50s to upper 60s under sunny skies.
By Wednesday, conditions are set to reach their peak, making what could be the most idyllic day of the year so far. There will be sun-filled skies, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. It will be a good time to enjoy outdoor activities before changes arrive later in the week.
However, our stretch of dry weather may stop on Thursday as the system approaches from the north-northwest. While details are subject to change, there is a small chance of showers during the day, with showers possible in the evening and overnight hours. Highs will range from the mid 60s to mid 70s, reflecting continued warmth.
By Friday morning, rain is expected to fall from the area, leading to clear skies. Temperatures will drop significantly, with highs reaching the mid 50s to upper 60s. Breezy conditions may continue, with winds likely to reach 20 mph.
