The wind has subsided for now. We are watching for the possibility of some light snow with a fast-moving system moving south and possible afternoon snow across the entire area.

Temperatures will only rise into the mid-30s thanks to limited sun today. We don't even deserve to call “partly sunny” skies today. May of those clouds will be thanks to the aforementioned weather system to the south. Across Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, we should be close enough to get 1-2 inch patches, with the snow tapering off by noon.

Later in the day, unstable air will shift over the area, showering us with snow storms and snow showers. Some rapid accumulation and decreased visibility are possible in these storms. These symptoms may appear suddenly, so be careful if you are traveling in the afternoon.

Following this system, another system will approach on Sunday. We continue to see this brighter over the two days, although more clouds move in. Temperatures will continue to be in the upper 30s, but winds will increase during the afternoon with gusts near 30 degrees from the southwest.

Finally, we'll enjoy some bright sunshine on Monday and Tuesday. If you've been watching, you know that the sun's angle is actually increasing this month. The shadows are shorter, and the days are much longer. Try to go out and enjoy the warmth of the winter sun, known for its heat, at the beginning of next week.

Enjoy your weekend and be safe!
