Sam Evian has released a new single titled “Rollin' In” taken from his upcoming album He is drowning. It follows the lead single, “Wild Days,” and you can listen to it below.

“The song is a box of memories and reflection,” Evian explained in a statement. “I grew up on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, and would often go to the ocean to connect with myself, a habit I picked up from my mother. It's a reflection of that time in my life, and who I became in the years that followed. I started out writing about a simple relationship topic, but soon… What I realized was that I was examining myself and being disappointed in who I thought I would become, versus the person I am today.

“At first I didn't plan to play a saxophone solo, but Wayne Shorter died the day I was finishing this piece, so I felt inspired to play it at the last minute,” he added. “I did my best to pay tribute to his sensitivity, lyricism and restraint. I wanted it to feel like big, rolling waves.

He is drowning It is scheduled for release on March 22 via Flying Cloud Recordings/Thirty Tigers. Revisit our Artist Spotlight interview with Sam Evian.
