Leeds English band Teacher have released a new single titled “R&B”. It's the latest offering from their upcoming debut album This could be Texas, which arrives on April 12 across the island. Check it out below.

“I had a lot of judgment early on,” Lily Fontaine of the group said in a statement. “Being a woman of color fronting a band shouldn't be something to talk about; we need to move forward with this, and only then will the narrative around this change.”

She added: “When I was with him, I was suffering from writer's block, and to add to the irony, the only idea I had was to write an R&B song — a genre people always assumed I was in. Once he finished that, that top line turned into In the lyrics and the song “R&B” and taking it to my top 3. Putting in the effort you can with a partner, getting back into yourself and your career, is cool and exciting and gets you signed to Island Records and writing press quotes in a tour van in Holland and getting to meet Jools Holland “Thanks, boy.”
