MISSOULA – Cold air from Canada will begin to fall south into northwest Montana this afternoon and evening. As it stands, expect scattered snow showers with some gusty winds primarily in the Flathead Valley, Swan Valley and Glacier area. This will continue until Wednesday morning.
It looks like a mostly dry Wednesday other than a few snow showers or flurries in the morning. High temperatures will be much cooler with most of us seeing highs in the upper 20s to lower 30s and lows in the single digits or teens.
An incoming weather system will bring snow back to western Montana Wednesday night into Thursday. This will be most widespread across west-central and southwestern Montana with 1 to 3 inches spread in the valleys.
There are also indications in the models that some areas, especially in southwestern Montana, could see higher amounts of up to 3 to 7 inches in the Bitterroot Valley, Philipsburg, and Lake Georgetown, as well as areas along the I-90 corridor west of Montana City .
