UT Health San Antonio is investing in significant infrastructure and technology improvements to enhance employee experiences and support the expansion of enterprise services including:

    • UT Health San Antonio's new multispecialty and research hospital.
    • Growing research efforts at the university.
    • Expanded academic programs of the university.

These required investments will enhance the experiences of our valued employees and differentiate us as a major employer in the thriving healthcare market through advanced technology and constantly updated operating systems.

Over the next year, these technology upgrades will occur in phases that will impact the human capital management system, financial management system, enterprise research management system, or ERMS, electronic medical records, or EPIC, and other IT modernization efforts.

A key aspect of this upgrade will include moving the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) system to the new HCM Oracle Cloud suite of HR-related products which will include key functionality such as:

    • Payroll.
    • Recruitment and qualification.
    • Talent management.
    • Learning and development.
    • Human resources support services.
    • Financial services such as supply chain management.

The benefits of digital improvements to these HR tools will:

    • Influencing the look and feel of the HR tool.
    • Allow for greater transparency in HR processes and status of efforts.
    • Provide more access for managers to manage talent.
    • Support a smoother hiring process.
    • Increased access to decision support.
    • Provide in-app support and more intuition while using HR tools.

Throughout the upgrade process, the institution is committed to keeping the campus community informed in a carefully planned sequence.

Regular and frequent updates will be provided to ensure a smooth changeover for everyone including timing of changes, replacement dates, training sessions, simulations, guided tours and personal support. New AI tools will also provide assistance through guided learning, chat support and a new digital assistant HR Buddy Bot.

As the university continues its unprecedented growth, this investment in our mission-critical operating systems and our people allows us to expand the scope of our services and provides more flexibility to support continued expansion. Modernizing our technology infrastructure is essential to advance our mission of making lives better by consistently delivering excellent experiences at every point of interaction with greater impact on efficiency and integration, more positive user experiences, and better outcomes.
