The masthead has been told Hutchinson will play alongside Matt Burton in the halves of Thursday night's pre-season challenge at Belmore Sports Ground.
Hutchinson's strong work ethic was rewarded during the offseason by Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo.
Hutchinson will play at number seven, and Burton at number five.
Former Souths player Blake Taaffe will be named at fullback for the Storm.
Senior recruit Stephen Crichton is expected to be rested for the game, as is key striker Viliami Kikau.
Canterbury will officially announce its squad on Tuesday afternoon.
