Some airlines issue waivers due to winter storms

Some airlines are issuing waivers to customers due to the winter storm affecting flights to and from the Northeast.
JetBlue, Delta, American, Spirit and Southwest are all allowing passengers traveling through or from certain airports in the Northeast today to rebook their flights for a later date through Thursday.
Frontier Airlines allows passengers to rebook their flights, obtain credits, or request refunds. It is not clear if they allow rebooking at no charge.

Plows will work in areas with 2 inches of snow accumulated.

New York City Public Schools announced they are experiencing technical issues during today's remote learning day.
All New York City public schools are closed for remote classes today.
“We are currently experiencing issues with services that require IBM authentication to log in,” New York City Public Schools wrote. X. “We are actively working with IBM to resolve the issue.”
An hour later, she said, “Improvements are being made across the system.”

Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were reported in the greater New York City area, according to the New York Weather Service.
Snowfall will likely move to the New York City metro area and Long Island next.

New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Escol spoke about how the city is preparing for what could be the biggest snowstorm it has seen in two years.
“As you all know, these forecasts have changed very quickly. Two days ago, the forecast called for about an inch of snow. Yesterday morning, that rose to 5 to 8 inches, and in a worst-case scenario it's 10 inches,” he said. NBC News.
Escol said the city considered a “worst case scenario” when preparing for this winter storm.
Residents were also advised to make appropriate preparations to protect themselves from the storm, including staying off roads for their safety.
