ABC 13 reported:
A heavy police presence can be seen around Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church after a deadly shooting in southwest Houston on Sunday, according to ABC13 sources.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to an active shooter at Grand Church near Southwest Expressway shortly after 2 p.m.
The 2 p.m. Spanish-language service was about to begin when chaos broke out. One witness told Eyewitness News that she heard several gunshots while in the choir room.
“The whole church started praying and proclaiming the name of Jesus,” she said. “I thought to myself, ‘This might be the last time I pray, to glorify the name of Jesus, so I’m going to do this.’”
Governor Abbott issued a statement regarding the shooting.
