One of the highlights of last night's Super Bowl came when country music star Reba McEntire took to the field to perform the national anthem before the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. This was McEntire's first time performing at a Super Bowl during her decades-long career, and fans were happy to see her bring a country touch to “The Star Spangled Banner.”
McIntyre praised the national anthem performance
While wearing an ivory sequined jacket and black pants with sequin embroidery, McEntire, 68, beautifully performed “The Star Spangled Banner” with her signature country twang. Fans immediately took to social media to let McEntire know that her national anthem performance was a hit, Fox News reported.
“Reba McEntire proves why she's a living legend. “No gimmicks needed,” one user commented, and another added: “I got goosebumps. #Reba did a good job.”
“Reba doesn't age. How?!?!?!?!” a third user wrote. Another user said: “Outstanding performance by Reba! Now this is the way our national anthem should always be sung.”

McIntyre gushes about performing the national anthem
In a press conference last Thursday, McIntyre spoke candidly about being tickled so he could sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
“I've never sung the national anthem at a Super Bowl,” she said at the time. “I am honored to be chosen to sing it beyond words. This means that I will be singing a very special song for all Americans, and people around the world who have worked so hard for our freedom and to give us peace.”
“It's not about me,” she added. “I'm the actor of this song, and I'm honored to sing it. It's a good one. I've been doing this for 50 years, and I'm really proud to have sung it.”
McIntyre continued to talk about how she was preparing for her big moment.
“I was singing the national anthem in the shower when we got in the car,” she explained. “Rex, my friend, is a huge football fan, and he played all the sports when he went to school. So, he'll say, 'Okay, sing it again.' I'll say, 'I think I know the words pretty well now, so I'm good.'”
“But just to be prepared and know that everyone is going to sing it with me. That helps,” she continued. “If I know they're singing together, remembering and having fun too, it's easier for me. Just be prepared when you get out there.

Other Super Bowl Offers
Rapper Post Malone performed a stripped-down version of “America the Beautiful” while accompanying him on acoustic guitar at the Super Bowl last night. Actress and singer Andra Day also performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which has become known as the black national anthem. However, it seems everyone can agree that McEntire's performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” was the highlight of these shows.
