NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The state is bracing for another winter storm Monday night into Tuesday, with some parts of the shoreline potentially getting more snow than it has seen in years.
Now one of the important things you should do is prepare your cars for winter weather. So, here's the checklist:
- Make sure you vacate your car before heading out
- Bring a window ice scraper and a shovel
- Keep some sand or kitty litter on hand to put away if you get stuck
- Have a flashlight
- Bring a blanket, food and water in case you will be there for a while.
In addition to storing your car, be sure to do some simple maintenance. Check tire pressure. If it was warm the last time you checked, it may be less now because it dips in lower temperatures.
Also make sure to fill your wiper fluid. One storm can drain the entire reservoir.
Finally, fill your fuel tank. The last thing you want to do is run out in a storm. If you are someone who owns an electric car, plug it in tonight and make sure the battery is fully charged.
This heavy, wet snow could easily bring down tree branches and power lines tomorrow.
