SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – It's been a pretty miserable weekend due to the weather all over the ArkLaTex. Expect a drier weather pattern over the next few weeks with higher than normal temperatures. We will only see two days of possible rain on Friday and again next Thursday.

Freezing Monday Night Then Warmer: Cooler air swept into the ArkLaTex area during the day Monday thanks to gusty northwesterly winds. We saw peak wind gusts today exceeding 30 mph over most of the area. Monday afternoon temperatures will likely remain in the 40s. Temperatures are expected to drop Monday night as the clouds disappear Monday evening. Lows will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s for most of the area with some spots settling into the mid 30s. Sunshine should bring us back to normal on Tuesday with highs mainly in the low to mid 60s. Average highs for this time of year are in the low 60s. This warming trend will continue through Thursday with high temperatures back into the 70s and lows into the 40s and 50s.

    Tomorrow's forecast

Continuing dry weather: Futurecast shows we will see clear skies Monday evening and Monday night. Expect mostly sunny skies Tuesday and mostly clear skies again Tuesday night. Wednesday will start with plenty of sunshine. It will likely end with some clouds falling in the southern half of the region late Wednesday afternoon. The entire area will become partly cloudy Wednesday evening and Wednesday night. Then we will see partly cloudy skies on Thursday. This will lead to our next chance for rain returning on Friday.

Weekend with rain: Our next disturbance will approach the area on Friday and move through the ArkLaTex on Friday night. Scattered rain is expected to increase Friday afternoon, peak Friday night, and quickly end early Saturday morning on the southern edge of the area. As of now, severe weather looks somewhat doubtful, however, with temperatures on Friday potentially reaching the 70s, some thunder is expected.

Finally a mainly dry weekend: There is good and bad news for the coming weekend. The good news is that most of the weekend will be dry. We will likely start to see some sun late Saturday and a lot of sunshine on Sunday. The bad news is that temperatures will be rather cold. Highs are likely to be in the 50s this weekend. Lows are likely to be in the 30s and 40s. Temperatures will rise again next week with more rain likely by next Thursday. Fortunately, it looks like rain will be fairly limited with these two disturbances, and the entire area will likely receive less than 1/2 inch over the next 10 days.
