Back to the mild side of winter with little to no chances of rain and snow
But I know you know these two. 230 alarm clocks are a reality check. We are now checking out Roswell. Actually, uh, Roswell. We had five inches of snow falling yesterday morning, midday. We thawed it off Main Street, but it's freezing cold in Roswell. And where the puddles did not evaporate. I'm sure it's over. We will be back on the mild side of winter later this week. Chances of rain and snow. Uh, doesn't look too good for the next seven days of the weekend, though. We could have a few weather events coming our way. Cooling combined with some wind. Uh, today, there's not a lot of wind to speak of and not a lot of clouds either. You should enjoy plenty of sunshine, but these high temperatures of 40 and 50 degrees are below average. Even here in mid-February, it's about 5 to 7 degrees below average. Tonight, there will be another drop below freezing statewide, and we'll be close to places like Alamogordo and Las Cruces around 30. But look at the teens spread across the west and north. The coldest places. We certainly cannot rule out a pullback to the single digits, leading to gains tomorrow. Another day with lots of sunshine and not much in the wind department. That's 53 points on average at SUNPORT. We'll see a few 60s in southern New Mexico and continue to be warm on Wednesday, and Wednesday may be a day with a little bit of high patchy cloud cover running along, but that's about it. No rain, no snow, neither in Albuquerque. We were close to 60 by Wednesday, in the 60s, and Southern New Mexico had Carlsbad at 72 by midweek. So we will get to where we want to be. It will only take two afternoons. Four Corners forecast, today's sunrise, high 30s, low 40s. We'll gain five tomorrow and a few more Wednesdays and a few more Thursdays into the mid-50s for the second half of the weekend. Kind of hanging out in this range for next weekend. Southwest New Mexico. It will be 40s and 50s from the mountains today. There will be about five warmer temperatures across the board tomorrow, and then it progresses in small steps. But we have Silver City approaching 60 by the end of the week. Here in southeastern New Mexico, it's very cold this morning. We're only in the 40s this afternoon. Ruidoso and Fort Sumner. She would be around 50 at Alamogordo, and in the low to mid 50s. Roswell, Artesia, Carlsbad, even over 50s. We'll be warm by about 10 tomorrow. And again, five or so on Wednesday, and then you can spend like 70 for the rest of the week in Roswell. So the snow will not continue for long. Northeast New Mexico, barely above 40 degrees this afternoon. And we have numbers in the teens and early single digits today. So that's just a cool thing. Back to the teens tonight. But tomorrow will be almost as warm. We may fluctuate a little here in NE New Mexico, but overall we keep it on the moderate side, note Saturday even though we hit the low 44's. This is north central New Mexico and we are only in the 30s to about 40 degrees in the afternoon with morning lows here today below freezing. Uh, looks like it's going to be five degrees warmer tomorrow. We'll make another jump, uh, on Wednesday to 50 or more, and then stay there at least through Friday. But then, we have a weekend lull that takes us back to the 1940s in metro Albuquerque. Whereas our average highs are 53. We're not going to get there, but yesterday we only got to 43, so we're making gains of 48. Highs today, 53 by tomorrow, and by Wednesday, we're closer to 60 instead of 50…and hanging around In those 50s until the end of the week. Uh, Saturday brings us down to 50 degrees. This could be a day that comes with some wind. So, we wouldn't call it ideal at this point in the weekend.
