Holden Armenta, a 9-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan, went to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday wearing face paint and an authentic headgear.

A grassroots fundraiser raised $10,000 to get Holden Armenta to the Super Bowl after a racist Deadspin reporter falsely and maliciously smeared him as a racist.

The parents of 9-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan Holden Armenta, who was defamed by Deadspin journalist Caron Phillips, last week filed a lawsuit against the outlet for allegedly “maliciously and intentionally” attacking the boy in an explosive complaint.

Karon Phillips smeared an innocent child who attended Kansas City's game against Las Vegas on Sunday by posting a hoax photo of just one side of his face.

“It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate blacks and Native Americans at the same time.

It turns out that Holden Armenta is a Native American.

Holden is of Native American descent and belongs to the Chumash tribe, with his grandfather serving on the tribal council in Santa Ynez.

Caron Phillips deleted his tweets attacking Holden Armenta, but in December the child's family demanded a retraction and apology.

According to the letter obtained by NewsNation, the Armenta family has hired Clare Locke LLP to pursue legal action against Deadspin, Carron Phillips, G/O Media and Great Hill Partners.

    “These articles, posts on

“It is not enough to quietly remove a tweet from

Deadspin refused to retract the defamatory article, so the family filed a lawsuit against the outlet.

The family filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, accusing Deadspin of causing “severe harm” to their family.

“Nine-year-old Ha loves the Kansas City Chiefs and loves his family’s Chumash Indian heritage,” the lawsuit states.

“By selectively taking a photo from the CBS broadcast of HA that showed only one side of his face with black paint on it — an effort that took laser-focused precision to accomplish given the speed with which the boy appeared on screen — Phillips and DeadSpin intentionally omitted “half of HA’s face.” It has red paint on it,” according to the complaint reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.

“Deadspin did not retract the article, nor did it apologise. Instead, it published a series of additional 'updates' that not only failed to correct the record, but instead demonstrated that Deadspin fully understood the extremely harmful and defamatory nature of the material — while maliciously refusing to retract it.” The complaint states that Deadspin's attorneys threatened Armenta's family with legal action if Raoul and Shannon attempted to hold Phillips and Deadspin accountable for their false and defamatory article.

The lawsuit claims Holden Armenta's grades dropped because he suffered so much emotional damage from the barrage of hate he received.

“Deadspin's lies have caused enormous damage to Armenta's family. They subjected the family to a barrage of hate, including death threats (“I'll kill [H.A.] with a wood chipper”) and insults (he called HA a “p-ssy,” a “mother fucker,” and a “n-gg-r.” They made Raul a pariah at work, forcing the family to consider moving out of state. They described Nine-year-old boy with false claims will live forever online HA has already suffered greatly, his test scores and grades in school have dropped, and he has shown emotional damage due to the onslaught of negative attention.
