Spring in February. Or at least, that's what it felt like as warm weather spread throughout Columbus several days last week.
Temperatures soared into the 60s in central Ohio during the first full week of February. It's a phenomenon some Ohioans jokingly call “fool's spring.”
But spring is still several weeks away and won't officially start until March 19.
Until then, here's what the National Weather Service and Farmers Almanac have to say about the coming weeks and this spring in Columbus, Ohio.
Will the warm weather continue into February in Columbus?
Although temperatures have been above average recently, warm weather is unlikely to last in the short term.
Cold weather is headed toward Columbus, where temperatures are expected to drop to 29 degrees Monday night and 28 degrees Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Some snow is possible in Columbus on Monday. The rain will likely turn to snow after 10 p.m. Monday in Columbus, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasts indicate that snow showers may also occur in the Columbus area during Friday. But any snowfall may not lead to significant accumulation, as temperatures are expected to rise above freezing and reach 41 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
What does the Farmer's Almanac say about winter and spring in Ohio?
Central Ohioans should expect the rest of the winter to be cold and windy, according to the Farmers' Almanac.
March could bring with it “extreme fluctuations” in temperatures and potentially more storms, according to the Farmers' Almanac.
The Farmer's Almanac states that Ohioans and many others in the Midwest should expect a cool spring and a slow rise in temperatures.
April in particular will be a windy month with some snow likely due to cold temperatures. It could also bring lower temperatures, with storms and severe weather possible as well, according to the Farmers' Almanac.
