(CBS Detroit) – High temperatures will continue in metro Detroit on Friday but will not continue through the weekend and into next week.
On Thursday, a high of 61 degrees was reached in the Detroit metro area, and the same warm temperatures are expected on Friday.
At around 8 a.m. on February 9, temperatures in many areas of metro Detroit had already reached the high 40s and reached the low 50s.
Metro Detroit is set to break its record on Friday
Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the upper 50s and lower 60s, meaning there will likely be a new record set today.
The record high was set on February 9 in 2001 at 56 degrees, and the expected high for today is 62 degrees.
In addition to the high temperatures, the National Weather Service in Detroit says there will be stormy weather today.
Metro Detroit forecast for the weekend
Temperatures will be cooler over the weekend and into next week, moving back into the 40s.
Additionally, rain is possible Saturday morning. The weather on Sunday will be partly cloudy, but temperatures will remain higher than average. The National Weather Service in Detroit said.
Next week, temperatures will be in the 30s with highs in the 40s.
