Illegal immigrants in New York already get free housing, free meals and even debit cards. Now they will be able to compete with American citizens for work.

Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) is loosening requirements in her state so illegal immigrants can quickly get a job in the United States, depriving hard-working American citizens of benefits.
Hochul this week approved a controversial proposal that would make it easier for undocumented immigrants to get U.S. government jobs in New York.
“Governor Hochul has prioritized modernizing the state’s workforce and eliminating red tape, and has instituted a series of reforms to achieve that goal,” a Hochul spokesperson said in a statement. “This initiative, which has not yet been implemented, will provide temporary employment opportunities available to anyone who can legally work in the United States.”
The proposal would require illegal aliens to obtain a legal work permit from the federal government. However, other requirements — such as the New York Civil Service Department relaxing English language proficiency requirements — will be relaxed for thousands of government jobs. Education and certification verification will also be removed from job qualifications.
The goal is for “hard-to-hire entry-level” jobs to become permanent for undocumented immigrants, which would start out as temporary roles. However, agencies will have the option to make it unspecified if their work is satisfactory.
