To say that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is under fire is to say that today is a day that ends with the letter “y.”
Political survivor Trudeau moves from one crisis to another and always manages to stay in power, but lately he has become weaker by the day.
This week, Trudeau is under fire for several reasons.
First of all, yesterday (6) Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre defended Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and her approach to transgender issues, accusing the Liberal government and the media of “demonizing” her over common-sense policies that would give parents more say over their children.
Poilievre said the Liberal government is “spreading misinformation” about Alberta's proposed policies.
CBC reported:
“If you keep it vague and actually refrain from describing the policies that Prime Minister Smith is putting in place, you think you can distort it and misrepresent the Conservatives,” he said.
“That's exactly what Justin Trudeau did. I noticed that Trudeau did not provide a single example of any of the policies put forward by Prime Minister Smith that he individually disagreed with because he didn't want to be specific about them,” Poilievre added, directing his comments to the reporter who asked the question: “You and I want to promote misinformation in order to discredit Prime Minister Smith and his parents.”
Poilievre said Trudeau and his ministers need to “withdraw.” “Parents should be allowed to raise children, and provinces should be allowed to run schools and hospitals,” he said.
The federal government and the media avoid talking about Smith's other policies.
Trudeau last week condemned what he called Smith's anti-LGBTQ policies and said such actions will exacerbate mental health problems and suicidal ideation among young people with gender dysphoria.
Smith's policies would ban “gender-gendered” surgeries for minors 17 and under, as well as restrict puberty blockers and hormone therapy for children 15 and under.
Biological males will also stay out of women's sports, a policy Smith says is motivated by safety and fairness.
“The Campaign for Life Coalition, a conservative social group, praised Smith's actions as a 'political miracle' that would 'go a long way to protect children.'
That's not all: Poilievre criticizes Trudeau for lying when he said that speaking Nazis in the Canadian Parliament building during Zelensky's visit was “the speaker's mistake.”
Trudeau also said Poilievre wants to “make Canada again” and declared that citizens do not want that.
