    The Ministry of Culture promotes cultural interaction in Hamburg

    The Ministry of Culture and Information has allocated nearly €500,000 to fund festivals and projects that promote cultural diversity in Hamburg, a press release said on Tuesday (January 30, 2024). A total of €90,000 is available for projects and €405,000 for festivals.

    The Ministry's position on racism

    “At a time when our open society is under increasing pressure, we want to take a stand against racism and xenophobia and for a society in which different cultures, religions and peoples can live together in peace,” said Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture.     Funded projects and festivals

    A total of 13 multicultural arts and cultural projects will receive between 4,000 and 10,000 euros each. Black History Month, an educational series of events organized by the Initiative for Black People in Germany (ISD), will receive €10,000 this year. A total of €405,000 from the Culture and Tourism Levy will be allocated towards festivals with supra-regional appeal and focusing on multicultural themes, including the transcultural festival “Fluctoplasma – 96 Hours of Art. Discourse. Diversity” and the “KRASS Kultur Crash” festival in Kampnagel, “altonale/STAMP” and the German-Turkish “Theatre Bridge Festival” at the MUT Theater.
