From NBC News:
Biden skips Super Bowl interview. His advisers say it's part of the plan.
For the second year in a row, President Joe Biden is missing out on the opportunity to sit down for a Super Bowl interview that could reach millions of Americans on Sunday — a move his advisers say is part of their larger communications strategy.
Biden aides believe many voters — already exhausted from a painful political season — simply want to hear the game. And seeing the president appear while waiting for the match to kick off could get them suspended.
But some in his party worry about his decision to miss the opportunity, so he spoke to millions of Americans.
“Either he doesn't have anything to say or his team is worried about what he might say or how he might say it,” one veteran Democratic campaign operative said, adding that Biden should have made a national speech after the last retaliatory strikes in 2018. Asharq Al-Awsat. “Regardless, it's a problem.”
Biden's handlers are keen to keep him out of this interview for reasons that are clear to everyone.
