Legendary country music star Toby Keith died last night at the age of 62 after a long battle with stomach cancer. Now, Keith's fellow singer Kid Rock is speaking out to honor him.
Kid Rock honors Toby Keith
“He was an amazing talent, and he loved his family as much as he loved his country,” Kid Rock told Fox News. “And we shouldn't forget what a fun guy he was.”
“I was thinking when I heard the news 30 minutes ago, memories started running through my head about all the award shows and afterparties, whether it was in the back of the losers picking up guitars or we were at a golf tournament or out in Los Angeles.” Many locations different over the years. He was just a great, great guy. We called him “The Big Dog.” “He was a big man.”
Kid Rock went on to praise Keith for the love he has for the US military and the brave men and women in uniform.
“We used to joke about who went there the most because me and I definitely had dozens of times, if not 20 times, that we'd been there,” Kid Rock concluded. “We had Christmas and Thanksgiving, and when we were called we went to do it.”

Keith passes away
This came after Keith's family announced the death of the country music star on Monday evening.
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family,” a statement on Keith's website read.
“He fought his battle with grace and courage. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.
Tributes poured in for Keith in the wake of the announcement.
“Toby Keith did things his way – an amazing artist, songwriter, patriot and man of faith,” said singer Lee Greenwood. “I admired him and how he rolled. He and I shared a deep love for our military and I'm proud that he took his music to dangerous places in order to give the American spirit to those who protect freedom.”
“I was thrilled that he called me OG and I was honored to work with him many times over the years,” Greenwood added. “Please join our family in praying for the Covell family. I am confident that Toby was greeted at the pearly gates by the patriots who came before them and is resting in the arms of Jesus.
