SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – After a cold start to Tuesday, we will enjoy near-perfect weather this afternoon. Temperatures will remain comfortable through the weekend, but rain will return on Friday and intermittent over the coming weekend.

It will be cold early in the morning with temperatures in the 30s and low 40s by sunrise, and there may be some light frost north of I-30 in Arkansas. High pressure will keep sunny skies intact today, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s. The winds will not be as strong as they were yesterday, as the north breeze will only blow at 5 mph.

Temperatures will remain comfortable with us tomorrow, with some additional clouds developing Wednesday into Thursday. We could start to see some scattered showers and thunderstorms late Thursday, but rain will likely return on Friday through the weekend.

A low pressure area in the southwestern United States is expected to approach the ArkLaTex on Friday. As it approaches, a warm front will draw north from the coast, which will begin to bring scattered rain and some storms on Friday. The rain will come on and off over the weekend, so if you're planning to attend the Krewe of Gemini show in Shreveport on Saturday, or the Krewe of Highland show on Sunday, you should plan for rain – and hopefully in the breaks in the rain. True to keep display effects low.

Severe weather doesn't appear to be a problem Friday or Saturday, but with a cold front arriving late Sunday, there could be a window for stronger storms late into the weekend. Rain accumulations will average around an inch, with higher amounts isolated over the next seven days.
