Hollywood star Carl Weathers died “peacefully in his sleep” last Thursday at the age of 76. rocky Co-star Sylvester Stallone speaks to honor him.
Stallone honors the weather
Stallone, 77, took to Instagram on Friday to honor Withers after his death.
“Hey everyone. Today is an incredibly sad day for me. “I mean I'm so torn up I can't even tell you,” Stallone began. “I'm just trying to hold it in, because Carl Weathers has been such an integral part of my life, of my success. “
“Everything about him, I give him incredible recognition and fame,” he continued. “Because when he walked into that room and saw him for the first time, I saw greatness. But I didn't realize how great he was. I never would have been able to achieve what we did with Rocky without him.” Weathers especially took on the role of Apollo Creed in the film rocky Commercial franchise.
“He was absolutely amazing, in his voice, his size, his strength, his athletic ability,” Stallone added. “But more importantly, his heart and soul…it's a terrible loss.”
Stallone went on to point to a painting on the wall behind him that showed him and Withers in the ring together rocky.
“And I'm standing here in front of this painting because it was probably one of the last moments we were in the ring together and I will never forget it,” he said.
Stallone ended the video by raising his fist in excitement, saying: “So Apollo… keep hitting.”

The death of the weather
This came after Withers' family announced that he died “peacefully in his sleep” on Thursday, February 1.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Carl Weathers,” the family said in a statement, according to the Daily Mail. “He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1, 2024.”
They added: “Karl was an extraordinary human being who lived an extraordinary life.” “Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he left an indelible mark recognized around the world and across generations. He was a brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”
Withers was a former professional football player who became a household name after playing world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed in 1976. rocky. He continued to reprise this role in several parts of the classic film.

Weathers previously recalled insulting Stallone's acting abilities during his tenure rocky Audition, the step that eventually landed him the role.
