Top House Republicans forcefully rejected the Senate's bipartisan bill on borders and funding for Ukraine on Sunday night. The bill was negotiated in secret between Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Sen. James Lankford (R-Oklahoma) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) with support from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Joe Biden.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) published strongly worded statements condemning the bill, while freshman Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) expressed his opinion on the bill in a more… Vitality. “This bill is the worst fiasco in the Senate since a Democratic staffer filmed his porn on Klobuchar’s desk.”
Senator Lankford to Chuck Schumer: “Thank you, sir. Can I have another?”
Speaker Johnson's statement: “I've seen enough. This bill is worse than we expected, and it will not come close to ending the border disaster the President has created. As the Democratic chief negotiator declared: Under this legislation, 'the border never closes.'” If the bill arrives, This law will be sent to the House of Representatives, and it will be dead when it arrives.”

Leader Scalise, “Let me be clear: the Senate border bill will not get a vote in the House. Here's what the people pushing this “deal” don't tell you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients — attracting more illegal immigration.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) “I'll say it again: Any Senate deal that explicitly allows even a single illegal crossing will be dead on arrival in the House. What we've seen is an insult to the American people who have had to endure Consequences of Democrats' open border policies.

“This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer open borders bill is completely unacceptable and will incentivize thousands of illegal immigrants to stream across our borders daily,” said House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY). House Republicans have already passed HR2 – the Secure Our Border Act, which would truly secure the border and return effective Trump policies with the most secure border in our nation's history.

Michael Caputo, a former Trump administration official, had a similar idea: “I think I recently saw a video of Democratic staffers working on this border bill in the Senate hearing room. It had to be done,” he said.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), “The Senate amnesty bill would literally force President Trump to let in illegal immigrants for much of his term. Any Republican who votes for this is no better than a Democrat!

And: “Any Republican vote for the latest open borders amnesty bill in the US Senate must be paid off by foreign interests and act as a foreign agent. What an embarrassment! Shame on them!!
