Danielle Durack has released “Dean,” the third offering from her upcoming album Artist's escape. It follows previous tracks “Shirt Song” and “Good Dog”. Give it a listen below.
Durack explained in a statement: “Dean was my stepfather from the ages of 4 to 11, and he remained a big part of my life after his marriage to my mother ended until he left when I was 14 years old.” “We kept in touch via phone calls and texts, but I never saw him again. He was like a father figure to me during some beautiful formative years, and due to some unfortunate circumstances, I didn’t find out about the funeral. I wish I could have been there to share what he meant to me.” .
“For the video, I initially wanted to use all the home video footage, but after putting it together, there was only a little of Dean because he was usually behind the camera,” Durack added. “I wanted to find a way to combine it into an animation collage and at first I wasn't sure how to combine all these elements, but I got to work and I'm really happy with how it turned out. In total, it took about 6 months: 1,500 still images, hours of Editing, hours of precise knives, hours of moving everything a centimeter at a time. I'm glad I honored him and his life in some way.
Artist's escape It will be released on February 16.
