In August, my husband and I welcomed our second child into the world. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the future my children will face.
I was born and raised in New Hampshire, and was fortunate enough to be able to stay and raise a family here. But over the years, I have watched many young people flee our state in search of more affordable housing, better public schools, and greater access to health care. Because of our housing crisis, families are breaking up and spreading across the country.
As one of the few state legislators with young children, my efforts to set our children and grandchildren up for success are often met with resistance. Working parents of young children struggle for representation in our law-making process, making necessary economic progress infuriatingly slow. Fortunately, one working parent is running for governor: John Kipper.
John understands the speed of the dollar in this economy, and is maximizing its value as Granite Staters do. As a father and small business owner, John is focused on ensuring young people can afford to stay in our state – and thrive.
John has creative plans to leverage existing state resources to expand housing, lower costs and breathe new life into our economy. With John in the corner office, I hope we can address the systemic statewide problems that have caused this recent exodus. I invite readers to join me in supporting his bid for governor.
