Yesterday, we reported that a new poll found that liberal singer Taylor Swift could influence the results of the 2024 presidential election, with nearly a fifth of voters saying they would support the pop star's preferred candidate.
Now, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly is speaking out to question how much political power Swift really has, while also explaining why the “Anti-Hero” singer would be crazy to endorse Joe Biden.
Kelly seems down on Swift
During a recent episode of her eponymous SiriusXM talk show, Kelly mocked conservatives who fear Swift's alleged political power, saying that “people on the right that I love and respect are pushing this,” the Daily Mail reported.
“I don’t know why people are so afraid of her,” Kelly said. “She has power and influence, and she told people to go vote and nearly 35,000 of them did. But registering to vote is not the same as actually voting.”
Kelly went on to say that although Swift will lean left again this year, it won't matter in the grand scheme of things.
“Why do people live in fear of this?” she asked, adding that she “doesn't happen to be one of” the “vast majority of people” who find Swift interesting before explaining why the “Shake It Off” singer would be making a mistake if she endorsed Biden as she did in 2020.
“If she's smart, she'll stay apolitical, and that's better for her,” Kelly said. “She won't be the most popular figure in America if she keeps antagonizing the half of the country that votes Republican, but whatever.”

A quick poll and her liberal views
This came after a poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek showed that eighteen percent of voters stated that they were “more likely” or “much more likely” to vote for any candidate supported by Swift.
Meanwhile, 17% said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate supported by Swift, and 55% said they would not be swayed either way by the “Anti-Hero” singer. A total of 45 percent of people who responded to the survey said they were Swift fans, while 54 percent said they were not.
“It affected popular culture, sports, and the economy of entire regions of the United States,” communications consultant James Haggerty said. “So why not politics and elections?”
“Swift is in a class on her own,” media consultant Brad Adgett added. “She's so talented, so popular, so ingrained in popular culture. No one comes close to her.”
Swift has long had a reputation for being radically liberal and staunchly anti-Donald Trump. Back in 2020, Swift accused Trump of “fanning the flames of white supremacy and racism” in response to comments he made condemning the violence that spread across the country in the wake of George Floyd's death.
“After fanning the flames of white supremacy and racism throughout your presidency, do you have the audacity to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?” she wrote on social media at the time, according to The Mail. “When the looting starts, the shooting starts”??? We will vote for you in November. @RealDonaldTrump.

Kelly calls for a boycott of Swift
Kelly is one of the few public figures who had the courage to call out Swift recently. Last month, Kelly called for a boycott of Swift after the singer attended a benefit concert benefiting a charity in Gaza.
“You clearly don't know anything,” Kelly said, addressing Swift directly in her rant. “Do you know what they are doing to this community in Gaza, Taylor, that you now want to support?”
“Do you know what Hamas likes to do to women?” she added. “Do you think we have equal rights there, Taylor?”
