This latest video comes on the heels of another controversial video in which she reportedly indicated that her loyalty was to her home country of Somalia and that the US government would “follow orders” and “do what I tell them to do.”
While these comments are not appropriate for a member of the US Congress, it is important to note that they are based on translations provided by external sources. The Daily Wire had a “freelance translator” confirm the content of the original video shown below.
Shocking video of @IlhanMN Saying that it makes the US government take orders from Somalia:
“The United States government will only do what the Somalis in the United States tell it to do. They will do what we want and nothing else. They must obey our orders, and that is how we maintain interest… pic.twitter.com/qIgIbufHTK

Omar's latest video shows her loyalty to Somalia
Another video surfaced on social media with anger already mounting and calls growing for Omar's expulsion from Congress.
The video appears to be from the Minneapolis Convention Center on December 15, 2022, when Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud addressed a large crowd of mostly Somali attendees and was introduced by Omar. They both spoke to the audience in the Somali language.
The video is accompanied by subtitles – again, this has not yet been confirmed – and includes repeated references to Mahmoud as “our president” by the far-left “Squad” member.

Omar continues to talk about how close she is to the Somali president.
“The president and I have a special relationship,” she told the crowd to cheers. “I call him uncle and he calls me his girl.”
It's a good thing she didn't call him brother, because we'd be having a completely different conversation right now if that were the case.
“Welcome home,” Omar continued, according to the video: “Our home is your home.” “Welcome to Minneapolis. We are very happy to have Hassan as our president. Somalia is our homeland. It is home to all the people gathered here. We do not feel that he is far from us. “Somalia is our heart.”

Musk says pick a side – DeSantis says she needs to deport
Musk, an African-American philanthropist, responded to the video showing Omar declaring that the Somali leader is “our president” by suggesting she should just find out who she represents.
“The United States or another country. “Pick one,” he requested.
Omar, who has accused supporters of Israel of dual loyalty in the past, has also been the target of harsh criticism from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
“Expel from Congress, revoke your citizenship, and deport!” DeSantis wrote on X.
Omar criticized the translation of her comments as “not only slanted, but far from it” even as she admitted in one video that she struggled with the language herself.
Omar, who represents Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, moved to the United States in 1995 when she was 12 years old. She and her family fled civil war in Somalia and lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for four years before settling in the United States.
