Met Office forecast for the morning
A weather system from Scandinavia is set to freeze the UK from early February, with the latest weather map forecast showing when snow could fall.
WXcharts, an interactive weather map using Met Office data, predicts Britons can expect snow from February 6 in northern England and Scotland.
Some may see snow early today, as the Met Office forecasts wintry weather over the high ground of the Pennines.
The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning covering large parts of Lancashire and Cumbria from 12pm today until 5am on Tuesday, with around 40 to 50mm of rainfall possible on higher ground.
It comes as the Scottish village of Kinlochewi provisionally set the UK January temperature record after reaching 19.6C on Sunday.
This beats the previous UK January record of 18.3C at Inchmarlo and Aboyne in 2003 and Aber in 1958 and 1971, the forecaster said.
“We actually have a weather front crossing the country, and that's where the rain band is – to the south of it we have milder air, and to the north of the country,” said Craig Snell, a meteorologist at the Met Office. It's cooler.

The forecaster said that between noon on Monday and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the rain will be heavy and prolonged at times, with significant amounts of 20 to 30 mm falling.
Areas affected include Preston, Bradford, Blackpool and Lancaster. Flooding of a few homes is likely in a few areas while rain may also cause some travel disruption.
Wednesday will see another yellow warning, this time for strong winds across northern parts of Scotland between 7am and 7pm.
The warnings mean January will come to a wet and stormy end, with the UK having been hit by two storms already this month – Isha and Jocelyn.

“Temperatures dropped and a fairly severe frost” Tuesday morning
Alex Burkell, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said western Scotland would be hardest hit by a significant drop in rural Northern Ireland “well below freezing”.
The rest of the UK will be spared the bitter cold due to a 'cloud cover'.
He said: “It will be a fairly dull start to Tuesday, with the weather being gray with continued rain in the north-east of England in particular. There will be some brisk breezes along the North Sea coast as well.”
Sunshine will appear in many areas including Scotland, Ireland and northern England after a frosty start to the morning.

UK faces 'triple weather divide'
“We actually have a weather front crossing the country, and that's where the rain band is – to the south of it we have milder air, and to the north of the country,” said Craig Snell, a meteorologist at the Met Office. It's cooler.
“So there's going to be a cold front trying to push that mild air away. It's probably not going to win its day in the south, it's just going to hang on to the mild air a little bit longer.”
Snell said rain-hit areas, including southern Scotland, northern England and most parts of Wales, would see heavy and persistent rain in places and feel “absolutely miserable” until rush hour on Tuesday morning.

Strong winds and heavy rain will move across England after heavy rain
With yellow weather warnings issued for days due to heavy rain and flooding expected, the Meteorological Office said that strong winds and heavy rain would move to the northwest of the country on Wednesday.
Although temperatures will remain above average, the Met Office said: “Clouds and rain [are] It spreads eastwards until Thursday, and is drier towards the south. Very light for everyone. “It's still windy.”

How to check flood alerts and warnings in your area
As the UK is hit with more yellow weather warnings predicting heavy rain and flooding, The Independent explains how to check flood alerts and weather warnings in your area.
The UK has endured a mild but wet start to 2023 after a surprisingly cold December in which much of the country saw snow, ice and prolonged exposure to sub-zero temperatures.
By contrast, the new year has been wet and frustrating so far, marked by near-daily torrential downpours that have left paths muddy, fields soaked, and rivers and streams in danger of bursting their banks.

Snow could hit the UK within two weeks
A Met Office spokesman said The Independent He added that although snow would be limited to Scotland's highlands in the coming days, “a wave of cold air could bring potential snow from mid-February onwards”.
