A supposed “sanctuary city” in Denver, Colorado, will begin limiting the amount of time illegal border crossers can spend in shelters.

Like many blue cities, Denver learns that a city's resources are not infinite and that a community can quickly become overwhelmed when an army of people suddenly appears in the city. They are already shipping people to other places.

One has to wonder how the city will implement this policy.

    Townhall Reports:

The Blue City will expel illegal immigrants from shelters next month

The city of Denver, Colorado, will begin limiting the number of days undocumented immigrants can stay in its shelters, and will send those who overstay their stay to the streets, according to a report from NBC News.

Reportedly, about 40,000 illegal immigrants arrived in the city over the past year. Many come by bus from the Texas-Mexico border.

Starting February 5, the city will implement restrictions on how long an illegal immigrant can stay in the city's shelters. One Venezuelan family told NBC they received notice that they would be evacuated from their hotel. Their accommodation costs are paid by the city.

“Just yesterday they started getting rid of the toys and bikes in the common area,” the mother said. “We don't know where we'll go next.”

In addition, the city's “safety net” hospital, Denver Health, is reportedly asking the federal government for help to cover $10 million in unpaid medical bills caused by undocumented immigrants.

    More NBC news:

Nearly 40,000 immigrants arrived in Denver over the past year, making the city of just over 710,000 a top destination per capita for newly arrived immigrants crossing the southern U.S. border and traveling north on buses from Texas.

This influx affects the city's public safety network. Starting February 5, Denver will limit the number of days migrants can stay in shelters and will send those who overstay on the streets…

Denver Health, the city's “safety net” hospital, is asking for more money from both the state and federal governments to help cover $10 million in unpaid medical bills from immigrants.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston estimates that the city will need $100 million through 2024 to pay for housing, education, health care and other services as a result of the unexpected influx of immigrants.

Here's a tweet from the mayor of Denver in 2019:

Our country was built on the promise to welcome everyone – including refugees and asylum seekers. We are a nation envisioned and created by those who seek a better life. Trump is betraying those values. https://t.co/NuDDuTPqIW
