Watch: Rainy and wintry weather on Tuesday night
Meteorologist Brian Slocum gives your forecast for Tuesday
The story type pays off. But alas, there's always next year. Good. Let's talk about our weather timeline. This week until midweek. We have some wet weather in the forecast. We'll be dry during the day tonight, then the evening and overnight rain will start to taper off midweek. And then over the weekend. We have drier weather moving into. Furthermore, it won't be the crazy mild weather of late January or early February by that point, but we will see some balmy 50s back in the works over the weekend. This is definitely good news. At the beginning of next week, we will now see a southerly storm. The main impact of this will be on our south. But the northern edge of that could pass through our area and it could be cold enough for a mild spell of winter weather. I'm sure you hear about it online. Uh, we're still a work in progress at the moment. It seems. As it stands now, we have a small chance of some rain showers on Monday. Again, most of that moisture will be heading to the south, and we've had a lot of rain recently. We've had nearly four months of rain in the past two months, and 14.4 inches of rain since December 1 at PTI when winter officially began. Anyway, uh, west. Winter rains at the second time ever. Wettest January today, with only a few days left. We are more than four inches above normal. Just this month alone, there are absolutely crazy things and more wet weather coming. This won't break the bank. In fact, I think most areas won't see more than a few tenths of an inch. From the rain. Excuse me? rain. Most of this comes during the overnight hours and snow falls across the mountains. High clouds will start to form today and it should become overcast very quickly today, we are starting out with temperatures in all areas below freezing at 30 degrees or below. Most of us start in our upper 20s. This morning. More clouds this afternoon. South winds at 5 to 10. Your high should reach 50. Today we will start to offer a chance for some wet weather this evening. More than likely after nine, and I think a lot of this will be after midnight for the Piedmont triad, 3:00 this afternoon for the foothills. Your high should be around 47 degrees today. More clouds and a chance of rain could begin early this evening in the mountains by 9:10 11:00. Rain and snow showers will begin. This will likely amount to some snow showers. You can see this on an hour by hour basis. Clouds arrive during the afternoon. Wet weather. It's hard to come by. Scattered rain showers appear early. It will likely start with a mix of rain and snow between the north and west. The mountains will likely get some accumulation. You will see hills. I think we'll be above freezing, so that will really limit the impact. But Western Wilkes County and western Surry County may see some light accumulation on grassy surfaces. The rain forecast is not much, especially compared to the storms we've seen recently. Monroe tries to pick up a tenth of an inch. I'll get 2/10 of mountain snow, with up to a few inches along the western slopes. This will likely result in some school delays early tomorrow morning. And again, a reminder that Grayson County Schools this morning will be two hours late. Looking ahead quickly, the weather is turning dry Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This is the South Stream storm system that will arrive Sunday night and Monday. Maybe a wintry spell, but it really depends on where the temperatures on this track are going to be marginally cold, but there's a possibility that we could pick up some wintry weather from this. It's too early to tell. 50 Thursday Friday
