    Skies in the southwest are expected to improve before the annular solar eclipse on Saturday

    Severe storms possible in the Midwest

    A storm system that continues to crawl across the U.S. is expected to bring a severe weather threat to parts of the Midwest on Friday. Thunderstorms in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri will be able to produce damaging winds, along with small hail and an isolated chance of tornadoes and flash flooding.

    Storms will move into the Great Lakes and mid-Atlantic region on Saturday, bringing cloudy weather that could prevent even a partial solar eclipse from being seen there. The cloud cover forecast shows overcast skies across the Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes and Northeast.

    Sean continues to lose and regain strength as he moves across the Atlantic.

    Just behind Sean is Invest 94L, which has a moderate chance of developing over the next week.
