Met Office forecast for the morning
An Arctic blast is set to freeze the UK from early February, as the latest weather map forecast shows when snow could fall.
WXcharts, an interactive weather map using Met Office data, predicts Britons can expect snow from February 6 in northern England and Scotland.
Some may see snow early today, as the Met Office forecasts wintry weather over the high ground of the Pennines.
The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning covering large parts of Lancashire and Cumbria from 12pm today until 5am on Tuesday, with around 40 to 50mm of rainfall possible on higher ground.
It comes as the Scottish village of Kinlochewi provisionally set the UK January temperature record after reaching 19.6C on Sunday.
This beats the previous UK January record of 18.3C at Inchmarlo and Aboyne in 2003 and Aber in 1958 and 1971, the forecaster said.
“We actually have a weather front crossing the country, and that's where the rain band is – to the south of it we have milder air, and to the north of the country,” said Craig Snell, a meteorologist at the Met Office. It's cooler.
The UK recorded its highest ever temperature in January, at 19.6°C
The record for the highest maximum temperature on a January day has been broken after a temporary record was measured in northern Scotland.
The Met Office said they recorded a temperature of 19.6C on Sunday in Kinlochewi, a village in the north-west Highlands about an hour's drive from Inverness.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Met Office said: “A new January daily maximum temperature record was set in the UK today at Kinlochewi with the temperature reaching 19.6C.
“This beats the previous UK January record of 18.3°C set at Inchmarlo and Aboyne in 2003 and Aber in 1958 and 1971.”

A cloud of Sahara dust has headed to the UK where the Met Office warned cars could be covered in orange dust
The Met Office has warned that a huge dust cloud in the Sahara could be heading towards the UK.
Last year, a similar cloud brought a stunning sunset, but motorists saw their cars covered in fine dust that had traveled about 5,000 kilometers into the Sahara. The new plume is expected to be washed out of the atmosphere by precipitation in the form of red dust on Sunday afternoon.

What is a triple weather division?
The UK is currently facing a 'triple weather divide' with different parts of the country experiencing varying conditions.
“We actually have a weather front crossing the country, and that's where the rain band is – to the south of it we have milder air, and to the north of the country,” said Craig Snell, a meteorologist at the Met Office. It's cooler.
“So there's going to be a cold front trying to push that mild air away. It's probably not going to win its day in the south, it's just going to hang on to the mild air a little bit longer.”
Snell said rain-hit areas, including southern Scotland, northern England and most parts of Wales, would see heavy and persistent rain in places and feel “absolutely miserable” until rush hour on Tuesday morning.
The weather will move into the North Sea by Tuesday, briefly bringing dry conditions across the country.
Another weather front will move across northern parts of the UK by Wednesday, with yellow wind warnings in northern Scotland, but there will still be a little rain and mild temperatures in the south.

Why does Saharan dust bring about dazzling sunsets?
The dust brings about stunning red sunsets because molecules in the atmosphere scatter blue light more than red, which is why the sky appears blue during the day.
When the sun is low in the sky, such as at dawn and dusk, the light has a farther distance, so the blue light is too scattered for us to see it, with desert dust exacerbating this effect and turning the sky a deep red. .

The weather warning has been extended
The Met Office has increased the area covered by the yellow weather warning as up to 50mm is set to fall across northern England from 12.00 today.
Northerners face a 17-hour drought with the warning lifted at 5am tomorrow.
