HONOLULU (KHON2) – Gov. Josh Green He gave his second state address On Monday, January 22nd. Covering a variety of topics including gun violence, Maui recovery efforts, education, and more. He joined Wake Up 2day to talk more about his plans for 2024.

Governor Josh Green is a proud husband, father, and physician. For the past 20 years, Governor Green has been caring for Big Island families as a physician. He served in the House of Representatives and the state Senate from 2004 to 2018. As chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, he passed “Luke’s Law,” which provides care for children with autism spectrum disorder, as well as tobacco and tobacco use. E-cigarette regulations, which raised the legal age to purchase tobacco and e-cigarettes to 21. With a passion for housing solutions, Governor Green helped create Kawahale Communities for safe housing options for unsheltered veterans, kupuna, and others. These efforts continue and will remain one of his top priorities as governor. Governor Green expanded the role of lieutenant governor by leading the largest health care response in the state's history during the COVID pandemic. These critical emergency efforts resulted in Hawaii having the lowest COVID-19 death rate in the country.
Governor Green is married to Jaime Kanani Green and they have two children, Maya and Sam. Like many local families, they enjoy playing games together, going on family outings and shopping at farmers markets. Governor Green remains a huge fan of his hometown football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
