The sunshine is here to stay all week with warmer weather…finally.

DALLAS — Be sure to download the WFAA app to track the latest forecasts and get alerts from our team.

    Here's a look at this week's forecast!

    quick Facts:

    • Warmer than normal all week
    • Sunshine all week
    • Widespread rain returns this weekend

    Dry and warm week

Temperatures are rising! The first days of the week will be warm. Highs will be in the low 70s and are about ten to twelve degrees warmer than normal in late January. The rest of the week will see comfortable weather with highs in the 60s – winter fun!

Sunshine continues across North Texas until late this week before the next round of rain.

    Widespread rain returns

Cloud cover returns some Thursday and into Friday before our next system. This is set to bring another round of widespread rain on Saturday. Some areas will likely be isolated to isolated showers and storms early Friday night. The rain is expected to move out very early on Sunday with the help of dry air after a cold front. The exact timing will likely change as we still have several days to go.

    Rain schedule for the weekend

Winter weather is not expected in North Texas. The severe threat appears low so far, but some thunderstorms are possible. As of now, it looks like most of North Texas (including DFW) could get between one and two inches of rain over the weekend.

    14 day forecast

Most of this week will be warm by winter standards. A cold front Saturday night/Sunday morning should help temperatures drop to normal for this time of year.
