Several Republican senators called on Joe Biden to attack Iran and its leaders in response to the deadly attack on US forces in Jordan by Iranian-affiliated forces on Sunday. The drone attack on a base near the border with Syria killed three soldiers and injured dozens of others, with reports indicating that the number of wounded soldiers ranged between 25 and 34.
In a statement about the attack, Biden blamed Iranian proxy groups, saying: “While we are still piecing together the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by Iranian-backed extremist armed groups operating in Syria and Iraq.
Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mich.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee: “It is time to act with purpose and determination in response to the attacks that tragically took the lives of American service members and injured dozens. We must respond to these repeated attacks by Iran and its proxies by directing direct strikes against Iranian targets and its leadership. The Biden administration's responses so far have only led to more attacks. “It is time to act quickly and decisively for the whole world to see.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ariz.): “The only response to these attacks must be devastating military retaliation against Iranian terrorist forces, both in Iran and throughout the Middle East. Anything less will confirm that Joe Biden is a coward who does not deserve to be Commander-in-Chief.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Los Angeles) issued a statement that did not mention Iran and said, “We are saddened by the loss of three American heroes in Jordan last night, and we are praying for their families and for the other 25 service members.” who were injured. America must send a crystal clear message around the world that attacks on our forces will not be tolerated.

The Iranian-backed Islamic Resistance Movement in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack. There is some confusion, as the Jordanian government said on Sunday that the attack hit Syrian territory, and the Islamic Resistance said in a statement that three of the bases it attacked were in Syria and one was in the “occupied Palestinian territories.”
🔴📸 Jordanian journalist Muhannad Al-Mubaideen said that the attack did not happen inside Jordan.
Al-Mubaideen said that the attack targeted the Al-Tanf base in Syria.
