Saturday brings more rain, thunderstorms and flood risks to parts of the Southeast and Midwest after deadly flash floods swept away roads and killed at least one person in Texas earlier in the week.
Flood monitoring began for about 20 million people across a wide area of the country from Mississippi to West Virginia on Saturday. Meanwhile, other scattered flood warnings appeared from Texas to Michigan.
Rivers near Houston continue to see flooding after days of rain in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Cold weather in the North creates its own risks, too: The Northeast will see some light snow and some freezing rain over parts of southern New England as cold air lingers on Sunday. The weather service said conditions should start to improve as the weekend ends.
Houston area rivers reach major flood levels, Bonnie and Clyde Bridge collapses
In Texas, the Trinity River near Liberty, about 40 miles northeast of Houston, exceeded major flood levels Saturday morning. Just north of Houston, the West Fork San Jacinto River near Humble was also flooded.
On Thursday, the Montgomery County Courier reported that a century-old bridge, made famous by Texas outlaw couple Bonnie and Clyde in the 1930s, collapsed into the San Jacinto River in nearby Conroe due to flooding.

Rain reaches the Pacific Northwest and California
Meanwhile, a steady stream of moisture will make its way into the Pacific Northwest this weekend.
The weather service expects 1 to 4 inches of rain or more to fall on the coastal ranges and waterfalls.
“The Pudding River is expected to reach Aurora Minor flood stage on Sunday. Other rivers such as the Tualatin River and Luciamot Rivers will see higher than normal elevations, the service said on X (formerly Twitter).
