He initially ran as a Democrat. He is now running as an independent.
But regardless of party, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running for president and is siding with Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas' battle with Joe Biden on the border.
Texas has taken state-level action to secure the border that Biden and the federal government are fighting, with the latest incident playing out at the Supreme Court.

“Texas is right”
This is quite a bold move for Bobby Jr., going against almost all of his ideological compatriots who seem to have no interest in border security. Moreover, for any Democrat in this day and age to support what amounts to nullification and intervention is highly unusual.
“Texas is right. Biden’s failure to secure the border leaves states no choice but to take matters into their own hands,” Kennedy wrote in a message on X. “As president, I will end this humanitarian crisis once and for all. I will secure the border and destroy the drug cartels' business model. A state without borders is no state at all.”
“Kennedy joins a growing list of politicians, most of them Republicans, who have thrown their support behind Texas Governor Greg Abbott's (right) fight against the federal government over the fencing and razor wire that Texas has installed in the United States,” The Hill reported. Mexico border.
“In a major blow to Abbott, the Supreme Court ruled earlier this week that border agents can remove razor wire installed at the border, on the side of the Biden administration,” Hill added.
What the Supreme Court didn't say was that Texas had to stop protecting the border. Now we have a situation where federal agents and Texas can compete — while Texans try to secure the border, and federal agents, incredibly, try to remove barrier defenses.

Kennedy: Border crisis a “disaster”
In the past, Kennedy has spoken about America's “border crisis,” especially human trafficking problems, and called Biden's border policies — or lack thereof — a “disaster” in a Newsweek op-ed last year.
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out, with a high-profile figure who until very recently was a Democrat siding with Republicans on this front.
