Why does Ottawa support companies responsible for the climate crisis while we are forced to bear the costly impacts of extreme weather? asks the writer of this letter.
Editor:
I've always been concerned about the fragile state of our world: growing up and living in a supernatural BC environment has always been fun.
As I think about the state of the environment we are handing down to our grandchildren, I feel despair.
Too often, we put profit before common sense, and our future generations will pay the price for that.
In 2023, Canadians face an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis while billionaires and CEOs make record profits.
Why should fossil fuel companies wreak havoc on the planet for profit while we struggle to pay our bills?
Why does our federal government support companies responsible for the climate crisis while we are forced to bear the costly impacts of extreme weather?
the time now. Enough is enough.
Cheap, clean, renewable energy is the key to a better future.
Our governments must stop subsidizing the volatile fossil fuel sector and start investing in a transition to renewable energy that protects our planet and our wallets.
And our provincial governments across Canada (Are you listening, Alberta?) must stop misleading citizens about renewable energy.
We all have to act.
