    On Wednesday, she responded to Clinton's speech in favor of Margot Robbie, the film's lead actress, and its director, Greta Gerwig.     “This is why everyone hates feminism. A bunch of privileged women are crying because the woman who played Barbie doesn't get chosen for the Best Actress Oscars. This is the plight of feminism today.”

    Hillary's original tweet has received more than 42 million views as of this writing, with many Internet users supporting her. Candace Owens wrote a separate tweet under Clinton's post, saying:

    Feminists: “If we do anything, we need to get the trophy… especially if we do it.” Barbie involved!'”

    While the performers were snubbed, the film itself received eight nominations in categories including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, and more.


    Actors object to the exclusion of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig from Oscar nominations

    Many celebrities spoke out about Robbie and Gerwig not receiving Oscar nominations, including Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera.

    On Tuesday, after the nominations were announced, Gosling, who plays Kane in the film, issued a lengthy statement expressing his disappointment. According to CNN, he stated that he was “honored” to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his “portrayal of a plastic doll named Ken,” adding:

    “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making and globally celebrated film.. No one in the film would be recognized without their talent, persistence and genius. To say I'm disappointed they weren't nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.“

    In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ferrera, who plays Gloria in the film, called the duo's work “extraordinary” and said they “deserve recognition for the history they made, the ground they broke, and for beautiful art.”

    The 2024 Academy Awards are scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 10, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
