A dense fog warning will be in effect for the entire area until 10pm on Thursday. Visibility can be less than a quarter mile in spots. Fog will not be the only effect on the weather Thursday evening. Rain will increase widely and steadily from the southwest to the northeast across the region after 5pm, with rain falling everywhere by 8pm, with moderate to heavy rain likely Thursday into Thursday evening. Rain totals are likely to range from 0.5 to 1.0″. These heavy rains, combined with rain that has already fallen this week and melting snow, could lead to rising water levels and flooding problems, especially in flood-prone areas. Lows will be overnight in the low to mid 30s, and temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, so ice won't be a problem.
Widespread persistent rain will begin to fall north of the area late Thursday night and will mostly disappear by Friday morning. Friday will be another gloomy day. Expect cloudy skies and fog areas. High temperatures on Friday will be near 40 degrees. Areas of fog will continue until Friday night. Temperatures will drop into the lower 30s Friday night into Saturday morning.
A strong storm system will impact the Ohio River Valley this weekend. Although this system will remain well south of Michiana, it may be close enough to bring some rain to Michiana. There will be a slight chance of rain or rain/mix Saturday night into Sunday. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
