House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Ohio's ninth-term congressional candidate, Derek Mirren, who is running against J.R. Majewski, for US Congress in a move that may not surprise many.
I am honored to have the support of the Speaker of the House of Representatives @MikeJohnson. We will expand the Republican majority by providing Northwest Ohio with a mandate to uphold the Constitution, balance the budget, secure our borders, protect the U.S. dollar from further devaluation, and enact term limits for Congress. pic.twitter.com/MhM64u9G6F

Mike Johnson faced many other failures as Speaker of the House:
- The southern border remains wide open.
- Legislation to reform Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and stop the FBI's warrantless spying on innocent Americans was blocked by Johnson.
- Johnson announced a budget worth $1.590 trillion for the fiscal year 2024, to finance foreign wars, but it leaves America's borders wide open, and it was praised by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Politico reports,
House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Republican state Rep. Derek Mirren in his bid to oust Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur from her seat in northwest Ohio, siding with her in the contentious GOP primary.
After a widespread smear campaign by left-wing media in 2022 that unfairly targeted Maevsky's military service after he was endorsed by President Trump in 2020, the National Republican Congressional Committee “canceled nearly $1 million worth of ads promoting Maevsky,” it said. Daily Caller. RINOs hung Majewski out to dry in 2022 based on fake news stories about his service in Afghanistan and caused him to lose the general election.
Craig Riddell isn't the only candidate in the race with a questionable background.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Craig Riedel's death as a candidate when he declared himself to have never supported Trump.
“I don't like the way it is,” Riddell said in a recorded phone call [Trump] … I don't like the way he calls people names,” he continues, a typical left-wing talking point and RINO. “I love Ron,” Riedel added.

Derek Mirren, who Johnson endorsed, also received his fair share of embarrassment over his affairs and photo ops with former Ohio Senator Wes Goodman, who was exposed as a closeted gay adulterer.
NBC reported in 2017,
While Wes Goodman built his political career around values including “natural, committed marriage,” the 33-year-old Republican was secretly engaging in sexual encounters with men online, via cell phone, and, on one significant occasion, in his state office.
The encounter in the office was the final straw that last week ended his political rise as a Christian conservative, transforming Goodman from a congressional campaign worker to a Capitol Hill aide to a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives.
It also opened the floodgates to details of Goodman's secret gay life, which it turns out was not a secret to many conservative groups, House Republicans, or their campaign operation.
There has been speculation by many, apparently including Republican peers, that Mirren was Goodman's mistress at one point.
Mirren is also rumored to have hired Axiom Strategies, founded by Ron DeSantis supporter Jeff Rowe, to consult on the campaign.
Alan Jacoby, host of America First LIVE on LFATV and CEO/founder of Patriot Cigar Company, posted a video of X, in which Merrin confronted a freelance journalist about the possibility of a relationship with Goodman. Jacoby also described Mirren as a “Trump- and MAGA-hating adulterer.”
Conservative podcast host Joey Mannarino shared similar sentiments, commenting:
Establishment leaders would rather nominate a candidate accused by his peers of an adulterous affair than support the candidate chosen by the people… and whose military record they helped tarnish.

Meanwhile, J.R. Majewski has been endorsed by Trump Department of Defense Chief of Staff/Deputy Director of National Intelligence Kash Patel, Trump Director of National Intelligence Rick Grenell, Rep. Corey Mills (R-FL), and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). ), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), and Rep. Bob Good (R-VA).
Majewski discussed his race and his uphill battle against RINOs in an exclusive interview with The Gateway Pundit earlier this month.
When Mirren, Riedel, and Majewski were asked at a recent candidate forum who they would align with most members of Congress, Majewski was the only candidate who said he would align with Trump.
Riddell said “Jim Jordan,” Derek Mirren said “The Constitution,” and Majewski said “Donald Trump.”
“He is the man who will return the country to how it was before the election was stolen,” Majowski added.
