Joe Biden was campaigning in Virginia this week, where he attacked popular Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, saying he is not the “real” governor. His team later tried to claim he was just joking.
However, there is more to this story.
Biden is in trouble in Virginia. Voters there are not satisfied with him or the direction the country is headed.
Washington Examiner report:
Trust in Biden and the nation declines further with Virginia voters
A day after President Joe Biden drove 35 miles to Virginia for a reelection campaign event where he fired a verbal salvo at popular Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-Va.), a new poll finds that voters are ready to take that jab at him.
Virginians who like their governor and the direction of the commonwealth said in the latest poll by the Wason Center for Civic Leadership at Christopher Newport University that they don't like Biden or where the country is headed.
The poll, which included 1,000 voters in Virginia, said they did not approve of Biden, by 59% compared to 36% who approved of him. This represents a two-point drop in the president's approval rating since last year.
Research director Rebecca Bromley Trujillo said that only 20% said the country was heading in the right direction, while 71% believed it was heading in the wrong direction.
By comparison, Virginians continue to approve of Youngkin by 50%-39% for the second year, and 43% like the direction the commonwealth is headed versus 37% who don't.
Biden has good reason to be concerned about Virginia. And he's underwater there.

Virginia is not a state Democrats can afford to lose in November.
