“Agtech is the driver of all types of agriculture of the future,” said VISION keynote speaker Brian Lutz of Corteva Agriscience. However, when it comes to agricultural technology, there is a difference between on-farm solutions and the enabling technology that makes these solutions possible.

Lutz, who is vice president of agricultural solutions at Corteva, explained the difference by comparing tractors to generative AI. “Tractors are the solutions,” Lutz said. “They consist of many different enabling capabilities, but tractors solve a problem for farmers.”

“Generative AI, on the other hand, is an enabling capability, it's a technology…and we're putting that into products and solutions,” Lutz explained.

In his presentation, Lutz also pointed out that technology enablement is rarely industry-specific and that many of the tools used now have been adopted from other industries.

Corteva is a major sponsor of VISION and Lutz says it is events like this that will continue to accelerate the development and adoption of the technology.
