Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) took to social media to ask the public if the United States should cut its annual spending legal Addressing immigration.
As the border crisis rages on and Joe Biden's administration continues to make legal immigration irrelevant by opening America's doors wide to illegal aliens, Collins wondered whether it was time to look at the overall situation.
“In addition to stopping illegal immigration, do you believe the United States should reduce the annual number of legal immigrants we receive?” he asked his followers on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
This post has sparked a worthy discussion.
For some, America has long been known as a melting pot of cultures, where millions of people from around the world seek a better life. However, others argue that current levels of legal immigration are unsustainable and changes must be made.

Should we limit legal immigration?
Proponents of limiting legal immigration argue that this would help protect American jobs and wages, as well as ease pressures on public services and infrastructure.
They also point to the need to improve border security and enforcement of existing immigration laws.
Elon Musk, CEO of X, recently pointed out the absurdity of the Biden administration's lack of efforts to stop illegal immigration while allowing those who want to enter the country legally to twist in the wind.
“Although it is trivial to enter the United States illegally, it is extremely difficult for legal immigrants to move to the United States,” Musk said. “This is madness!”
Others disagree on the latter part of this statement, and have argued in the past that levels of legal immigration should be reduced, especially in times of crisis.
Political critic Ann Coulter said that when the Donald Trump administration's travel ban on countries harboring terrorists was in effect, the ban was too lenient.
Coulter went on to claim that a temporary ban on legal immigration would have eliminated any claims of racial bias in its ban and made the numbers more manageable.
“Don’t let that many people in,” she said. “It's not that difficult.”
Fox News host Laura Ingraham suggested a similar temporary ban during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that Americans who would suffer catastrophic financial losses should be prioritized.
America is still experiencing an economic crisis today. There is an obvious border crisis, and taxpayer money is flowing freely to war-torn parts of the country rather than returning it to the American people.
The two most important political concerns among voters at the moment are immigration and inflation. Will reducing legal immigration and closing illegal crossings help alleviate the suffering of the American people?

We are not a nation of immigrants, but a nation of citizens
Immigration advocates have used the phrase “we are a nation of immigrants” to advance their case, blurring the lines between legal and illegal.
But we are no A nation of immigrants, but a nation of law-abiding citizens.
“We are a nation of citizens,” the great Mark Levin once declared. “I am sick and tired of the American citizen being degraded and treated like a second-class citizen while anyone who crosses the border is treated as the most virtuous human being on the face of the earth.”
Rep. Matt Rosendahl (R-MT) has introduced a bill to impose a 5-year ban on mass immigration. The moratorium will only be lifted if the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border within a year falls to 10,000.
