More rain is falling on the already saturated Bay Area Tuesday night, and is expected to increase the risk of minor flooding and mudslides, the National Weather Service said.
The heaviest amounts of rain — up to three-quarters of an inch — are expected to accumulate in the North Bay through Thursday afternoon, with most of it falling Wednesday morning and afternoon.
The highest flood risks will coincide with high tides Tuesday and Wednesday morning and will be primarily concentrated in low-lying areas along the beaches of San Francisco Bay and North Bay.
“Outside the North Bay, where rain will be possible again throughout late week, drier conditions develop by Thursday and will continue throughout next weekend,” Weather Service officials said in a statement.
The next round of rain could hit the region with an unstable weather pattern by the middle of next week.
