New Hampshire residents recently received robocalls posing as the artificial intelligence voice of President Joe Biden, asking them not to cast ballots in Tuesday's presidential primary and save them for the general election in November.
CNN examined an audio recording of the call from anti-robocall software Nomorobo. Their tracking information indicates high call volume. However, it is not clear who called from this number.
On Monday, January 22, 2024, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced that it is looking into allegations of an alleged robocall that mimicked President Joe Biden's voice. After being digitally altered, Biden's voice can be heard saying:
“Republicans are trying to get nonpartisan, Democratic voters to participate in the primaries. What a bunch of malarkey.”
The voice also said:
“We know the value of voting Democratic when our votes are counted. It is important that you save your vote for the November election. We'll need your help to elect Democrats at the top and bottom of the ticket. Voting this Tuesday will only enable Republicans to continue their quest to elect Donald Trump again.”

Joe Biden's recent fake robocall using artificial intelligence has sparked reactions from netizens
After the president's fake robocall recently spread via artificial intelligence, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced it was looking into the matter. In a state primary, a voice is heard advising people not to cast a ballot.
Biden's voice can be heard on the tape of the call examined by The Associated Press. The phone message on the robocall begins with “What a bunch of malarkey,” one of Biden's past favorite phrases. She then advises the listener to “save your vote for the election in November.”
An unidentified male voice at the end of the call also tells the listener to call a local number in New Hampshire for any other issues. According to CNN, the call appeared to be using spoofing, a technique common in fraudulent robocalls that alters caller ID data to display a fake phone number, masking the caller's actual identity.
According to Attorney General John Formella, the recorded message using Joe Biden's voice, which was delivered to several voters on Sunday, appears to be an illegal attempt to obstruct and discourage voting.
According to him, “voters should completely ignore the contents of this letter,” The Guardian reported.
The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by Cathy Sullivan, whose personal cellphone number appeared on caller ID screens. According to The Guardian, Sullivan also said that anyone responsible for a robocall that mimicked Joe Biden's voice urging Democrats not to cast ballots in Tuesday's primaries should be punished.
She stated that they needed to face the “maximum punishment” for attempting to launch an “attack on democracy” in the first place.
On the other hand, as soon as the recorded audio and news were published, netizens took to the comments section of Long Time History's X post to respond to the entire incident.
The last message included Cathy Sullivan's phone number. Sullivan is the former chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party and currently runs a super PAC that supports efforts to convince New Hampshire Democrats to put Biden's name on the primary ballot.
