European border security agency head says 'nothing' can stop foreigners crossing border – says politicians must show 'more openness to migrants' | Critic portal

    Hans Leightens

Hans Leijens, the new head of the European border protection agency Frontex, recently told the Berliner Zeitung newspaper that nothing could stop foreigners from crossing the border.

Laytens also called on European political leaders to be “more open towards migrants.”

Hans may not be the right person for the job.

The Egyptian wall with Gaza seems to be working well.
Maybe someone should tell Hans Lightens.

    The Berliner Zeitung reported (translated):

Faster deportations, stricter rules – The federal government is currently working to tighten the immigration path. The new head of the European border protection agency Frontex, Hans Lijens, is taking a different tack: in an interview with the newspaper Welt am Sonntag, he calls for greater openness towards migrants. His conclusion surprised the border guards: “Nothing can stop people from crossing the border, no wall, no fence, no sea, no river.”

Last year, more than one million people applied for asylum in the European Union. Most applications were submitted in Germany. Recently, nearly half of applications were rejected for unacceptable reasons. The exit rate is currently only 20 percent. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the countries of origin refuse entry.

Frontex chief considers politicians' choice of words “exaggerated”

The European Parliament recently passed a reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). Future migrants should go through asylum procedures directly at the external border, and rejected applicants should be immediately deported. The other problem is securing the external borders. It is necessary to impose stricter controls and increase police presence to reduce illegal immigration.
