COLUMBUS, Ohio — One of Ohio State's early football stars who benefited greatly from name, image and similar income has apparently decided to pay it forward quickly.

The foundation, a collegiate nonprofit that supports Ohio State University athletes, announced that Stroud has made a platinum-level donation to the organization. According to the group's website, this requires a donation of $50,000 to $100,000.

This is the first known donation of its kind from a former Buckeye. Stroud is the first-time running back to be named NFL Rookie of the Year after throwing for more than 4,000 yards and leading the Houston Texans to the second round of the AFC playoffs.

Ohio State's NIL efforts have been a factor in why the program has been able to retain several players with NFL prospects, as well as bring in several impact players via transfer. Under NCAA rule, teams are not allowed to discuss a specific net income with unsigned players. Ohio State's goal was to create a strong operation through nonprofit and for-profit organizations and show potential players the income available through current athletes.

The foundation is also holding a fundraising drive through its website at thefoundationohio.com. As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, the CBO will match all donations. (Stroud's donation did not come as part of this campaign.)
